The "Gamble"

Many businesses, unknowingly in some cases, operate in an extremely precarious environment: They are literally one serious occupational injury or OSHA inspection away from going out of business. At Horizon Safety, we operate from two core principles:

Every worker deserves to work in a safe, healthy environment; and every employer deserves the freedom to compete in their marketplace without the burden of this constant worry. In an ideal world, every company would be able to afford a safety director, and every employee would safely complete his or her job 100% of the time.

Unfortunately, neither is true.

Horizon Safety can provide the benefits of having a full-time safety professional at a fraction of the cost. How?

Our competitive pricing, along with the ability to choose only the consultation or training services you need. We will provide you with a detailed evaluation of your site or facility that outlines the services we feel you need most. Of course, another principle we believe is that, as our customer, YOU are the boss - so you decide which services best fit your operations and budget constraints. Horizon offers everything from a single training session or one time facility evaluation to a monthly or annual safety management program with dedicated hours spent improving your company's bottom line. Our most expensive monthly program is still a fraction of the cost of a full-time safety professional.

OSHA Recordkeeping

Most businesses are required to keep documentation regarding occupational illnesses and injuries. The most familiar document for most is the OSHA 300, or OSHA log. Did you know that you are probably also required to prepare a summary of injuries and illnesses (300A) each year and post it in a location where your employees can see it? In addition, OSHA requires retention of records pertaining to each accident or illness. OSHA can and will fine employers for lack of proper recordkeeping, which usually leads to a physical inspection that will almost certainly lead to more fines!

The flipside to this coin is that over-reporting - i.e. recording incidents on your OSHA log that really don't need to be there - can also cost you a significant amount of money in the form of increased worker's compensation insurance premiums as well as the possibilty of increased scrutiny by OSHA.

It is extremely important to record and report only the incidents that are legally required!

Let your Horizon Safety consultant help you make these determinations - incorrect reporting can literally mean a difference of thousands of dollars!
